While
validating a QuickBooks Point of Sale Desktop license, the following error
occurs:
Error
Message 176103: Unable to activate the product.
Reason:
This error
message can be caused by the following:
- The computer's system date may be set incorrectly.
- The wrong validation code for an upgrade copy of Point of Sale is entered.
- The prior version CD has not been inserted when requested at the time of registration.
- The entitlement is damaged.
- The license number is incorrect.
Resolution:
Solution 1: Ensure that the validation code is entered correctly
The
validation code should be entered without hyphens or spaces. To verify that the
right validation code is used, contact Technical Support.
Solution 2: Check the computer’s system date
From the System Tray:
On the
system tray, right-click the time or date and click Change date and time
settings.
From the
Date and Time window, click change date and time.
Update your
PC's time and date.
From the Control Panel:
Go to
Control Panel.
Windows 10, 8.1 and 8: Right Click the Windows icon and
choose Control Panel.
Windows 7: Click the Windows Start button and
choose Control Panel.
On the
Control panel window, click Clock, Language, and Region.
Click Date
and Time.
Update your
PC's time and date.
Note: Try to
validate the product again.
Solution 3: Delete the contents of the Intuit Entitlement Folder
Go to:
C:\Program Data\Intuit\Entitlement Client\v8.
Select all
files in the folder then press Delete.
Open Point
of Sale and complete the registration process. If the error persists, try
solution 2.
Try to
validate the product again.
Solution 4: Perform a Clean Reinstall
Perform a
clean reinstall.
Try to
validate the product again.
